I've been a member of Fellowship North off and on for the past 28 years. When I moved back to North Little Rock in 2012, there was no doubt where I would attend church -- Fellowship North. This place is family. I love the people here. I met my husband here. (Bonus!) At Fellowship North, you don't have to pretend -- you are accepted just as you are. There is community, forgiveness and transformation through God's grace. With a church this size, you have to show some initiative to connect, but it's there if you try. My family is a part of a biweekly community group where we have dinner together and dig into the Word and share our victories and struggles. The children's ministry and youth ministry at Fellowship North are excellent! My kids really enjoy going to church, and recently my 8 year old accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at Fellowship North. I love that kids are a priority at the church. Another huge part of Fellowship North is their mission statement to be a "racially unified body of Christ". This is no easy task, but the church is working toward this goal. Finally, the preaching and worship are top notch. I highly recommend Fellowship North.
Fellowship North can be a very legalistic church. Most members care more about how they appear to people rather than allowing grace for a process of sanctification. There have been of people who have felt like they have to perform or achieve to win the approval of God at this church. This church says that they care about racial unity but you still see the same Dogtown cliques hang together. Members will smile in your face and talk about you behind your back. Your business will be passed around like it's theirs to tell. People will only talk to you if they want to know something or need something. If you serve in a certain area, they will work you to death because the same few people serve. As far as new people, if you weren't invited by someone you know that goes there, good luck having anyone talk to you in the lobby. Certain black people will be placed on a pedestal for certain ones to say, "Hey I did my Christian duty to be racially unified." If you like surfaced level relationships by all means, this is the church for you. Most people here don't like to go deep or be known unless they're finding information out about you.
22 years later, I’m still so glad this is the place where I’ve been planted.
I've been in and out of churches my entire life, and this is the first place where I've really felt at home, which is an amazing feeling after searching for the right place for a long time. The people are friendly and casual, and they do a great job of making visitors feel welcome without being awkward. One of my favorite things about Fellowship North is their steadfast commitment to racial unity, and that commitment is evident in everything they do throughout the week, not just on Sunday mornings. This is a church for regular, everyday people who recognize their need for Jesus, and their propensity to stray from him. Also Anthony Valley plays two pianos at the same time, which is cool.
